Gudny Gudmundsdottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. She studied violin performance in Reykjavík, Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin and holds a master's in musicology from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Gudny Gudmundsdottir works within the fields of contemporary music, visual arts, and performance. She co-founded the Cycle Music and Art Festival in 2015 to create a platform where contemporary music and visual arts come together, both in performances and exhibitions as well as in discussions. Since 2020 Gudmundsdottir has been running the commercial gallery Gallery Gudmundsdottir in Berlin.
