Woodwork: building a bench from kambala wood+info
18/19 e 20 apr 〰 18h-20h e 10h-17h
After a first workshop dedicated to the construction of a bench by Mezzo Atelier (in 2021), vaga is once again opening the workshop for a new approach to the art of woodworking, this time at the hands of Master José Luís Silva - a native of São Miguel who began working as a cabinetmaker in 1968, a practice he continues to develop with his son at Oficina 26, in Ponta Delgada.
During three sessions - two in the Oficina 26 workspace and one in a vacant one - participants will learn the process of materializing a bench with traditional lines in kambala wood, from choosing the wood to applying the finish. The finishing will be done with Rubio Monocoat, with the support of Nuriscor. All the materials needed to build the bench will be provided. At the end of the workshop, each participant can take away the bench they have built.
