Anda&Fala - Cultural Association presents the RARA brand this Thursday, May 25, between 17h00 and 20h00, at vaga, in Ponta Delgada.
The Design and Crafts Residency of the Azores is a project of Anda&Fala that began in 2014 in the context of Walk&Talk - Arts Festival. After eight editions (2014-2022), it became a brand, RARA, presented this Thursday, at vaga - space of art and knowledge, through a show of 41 products.
RARA proposes the intersection between national/international designers and Azorean artisans and the crossing of traditional techniques and endogenous raw materials (such as wicker or cryptomeria) with different conceptual models, thus enabling the transition to new supports and products.
Curated by the Portuguese designer Miguel Flor, between 2014 and 2022, the Azores Region Crafts Residency was attended by 24 creatives/collectives of 7 nationalities and 15 Azorean artisans/craft production entities, resulting in the design of about 175 prototypes. The set of pieces/products developed during the residencies is now presented under the RARA brand, marketed to enhance and innovate Azorean artisanal production and the Azores Brand.
The exhibition of the 41 products of the initial RARA catalog can be visited between 5 pm and 8 pm on Thursday at vaga - space of art and knowledge. Access is free.
