Anda&Fala Launches Contest for the Creation of an Artistic Mural
The first phase of applications for the 9 Islands on a Mural contest, organized by Anda&Fala – Cultural Association and funded by the Azores Participatory Budget (Project 21/OP22), runs through April 5.

Anda&Fala – Cultural Association is launching an open call for the design and creation of an artistic mural at the Canto da Maia Integrated Elementary School in Ponta Delgada. Covering approximately 64 m², the project aims to celebrate the nine islands of the Azores as a diverse, interconnected, and interdependent territory under the theme Archipelago of Abundance. The initiative stems from a proposal selected through the Azores Participatory Budget (Project 21/OP22) and will be carried out as a competition.

Individuals or groups aged 16 to 35 who are natives of the Autonomous Region of the Azores or have resided there for at least three years are eligible to apply. Proposals using acrylic paint, spray paint, ceramic tiles, or other techniques suitable for outdoor projects are accepted.

The initial application phase for the contest runs through April 5; five applicants will be selected and invited to develop original visual proposals for the mural, each receiving a €750 stipend. The proposals will then be evaluated by a specialized jury and submitted to an online public vote, striking a balance between technical criteria and community participation. The winning proposal will receive €5,000 for mural execution, plus a production budget of up to €12,000 and support from a specialized technical team.

The mural is scheduled to be created between September 1 and 15, 2026, at EBI Canto da Maia.
