On our way to the 10th Edition
In 2020, Walk & Talk - Arts Festival completes the 10th edition from July 9 to 19 in São Miguel in the Azores.

Mapping the impacts of artistic activity in the establishment, expansion or reinvention of public spaces will be the central reflection of Walk&Talk’s next edition, which returns organized around five artistic circuits - Island Circuit, Exhibition Circuit, Residency Circuit, Performative Circuit and Knowledge Circuit. Distinct circuits that are contaminated in a program dedicated to contemporary artistic creation and the presentation of installation and exhibition projects, performance, video, music, architecture and design.

Most of the projects presented at the Festival are unedited and created by artists participating in Walk&Talk’s Art Residency Program, which is ongoing throughout the year and between editions of the Festival. Abbas Akhavan, Alex Farrar, Alice dos Reis, Catarina Miranda, Danny Bracken, Flavio Rodrigues, Joana Franco, Luisa Salvador, Mané Pacheco, Margarida Fragueiro, Nadia Belerique and the duo Sofia Caetano & Elliot Sheedy are the artists currently in residence and some of them prepare the presentation of new works at the 2020 edition of the Festival.

This group will be joined by artists nominated by curator Ana Cristina Cachola, who accepted the organization's invitation to coordinate the Exhibition Circuit, which will once again occupy various spaces in the city of Ponta Delgada, the designers and artisans invited by curator Miguel Flor to create contemporary handicraft objects within the scope of RARA, Open Call winners and other participants invited directly by Jesse James and Sofia Carolina Botelho, responsible for the artistic direction of Walk&Talk and in 2020, in the tenth edition of the project, will curate the Island Circuit.

In partner spaces are already confirmed the exhibitions of artist Sofia Caetano at Galeria Fonseca Macedo and a marathon curated by design studio Ilha (Catarina Vasconcelos and Margarida Rêgo). Among the many activities that are being prepared for the Festival program, the Summer School and the Volunteer Program, which again welcome students from the region, include a new group of young people travelling, with the support of the Angra do Heroísmo City Council, who during the Festival have the opportunity to contact artists and curators, develop their artistic literacy and skills that they can apply in future career paths in the cultural area.

In January we launch our Open Calls for Young Azorean Creators, for the Residency Program that admits applications from artists of any geographical or disciplinary origin and for Journalists who wish to accompany the Festival. Also in January, in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, a new competition for architects and architecture studios will be launched for the creation of the W&T 2020 Pavilion.

More info on the program, projects and artists soon.
