Kurt Woerpel is a graphic designer, illustrator, animator, and a few other things living and working in Brooklyn, New York (of all places!) He was born in Boston, MA; He was raised in Charlottesville, VA; He graduated from Pratt Institute in 2014 with a BFA in Communications Design. Kurt has worked in-house at MTV News, Weiden+Kennedy, Bloomberg Businessweek, and currently maintains a freelance design practice and helps run TXTbooks, an independent publisher which he helped found in 2014. His work centers on balancing the crude and the complex, resulting in idiosyncratic typographic systems and illustrations that embrace the instinct of amateur. His work has been recognized by It’s Nice That, The International Motion Arts Awards, American Illustration, and Vice among others.
