vaga, in Ponta Delgada, headquarters of Anda&Fala — Associação Cultural, opens this Friday, May 30, at 7 pm, Reimagining the Untold, an exhibition curated by InterStruct Collective, which explores colonial stories linked to the Azores.

Through speculative fiction, shared memory, and embodied knowledge, InterStruct Collective reimagines what is missing—inviting the public to consider new ways of seeing and imagining future possibilities. Reimagining the Untold explores colonial histories linked to the Azores and is shaped by the artists' experiences during a residency on São Miguel. The exhibition delves into archival and institutional gaps, silenced legacies, and the politics of memory.

During the artistic residency earlier this year, the collective sought to address urgent questions and concerns related to the silences and erasures within these colonial histories. The research process included consulting historical documents, engaging with local associations, artists, and institutions, and conducting collaborative workshops with immigrants and family members of immigrants from the island, in an attempt to connect this information to the geography, history, and culture of the Azores.

The exhibition opens this Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., Maria Cristina Borges presents Histórias de Angola (Stories of Angola), a performance that draws on oral tradition to reflect on the customs and traditions that identify Angola. At 9:30 p.m., the STP Dance Group brings Typical Dances of São Tomé and Príncipe to the space. During the opening period, there will be stalls selling food from Mozambique and Brazil.

Over the course of three months, until August, alongside the Reimagining the Untold exhibition, there will be sessions dedicated to reading, sharing, and meeting: on May 31, at 7 p.m., Readings are Portals, with Natasha Bulha Costa, at Forno da Cal; on July 3, at 6 p.m., a guided tour of the Reimagining the Untold exhibition, with Desiré Desmarattes; on July 30, at 8:30 p.m., Armazém das Letras Diversas, at vaga. The exhibition can be visited from Thursday to Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m., until August 30. Admission to the space is free.
