Ponta Delgada will have a new cultural space: vaga - espaço de arte e conhecimento
Anda&Fala - Cultural Association opens, on December 11, a new space in the city of Ponta Delgada, vaga - espaço de arte e conhecimento.
The creation of vaga is the result of a combination of ambitions - internal ambitions of Anda&Fala, as a way to extend its action in space and time, and ambitions of the Association for the city of Ponta Delgada and the Azores region, as a geography of reference in the fields of culture and artistic production today.
vaga aims to provide the city with a space with an appropriate scale and size to accommodate different cultural valences, focused on contemporary arts, with a regular and multidisciplinary program, which involves the presentation and hosting of exhibition projects, performances, conversations, workshops, masterclasses, publications, and artistic residencies.
It will be a workspace for the Anda&Fala team, artists in residence, and other agents. As a permanent infrastructure, it aims to develop continuity projects such as the training of audiences, non-formal artistic education, the monitoring of artists in the territory and the creation of a program and content throughout the year, contributing and promoting a healthy and synergetic cultural ecosystem.
vaga's program will be organized around three cycles of annual programming, in order to organize the contents and projects to be presented - Seasons. The Seasons will have an independent dynamic, but in tune with other Anda&Fala projects and other activities/proposals from partner entities.
The inaugural season, called We Never Say Never, will take place from December 11th to February 14th, and has a collective exhibition and a program that is divided between assemblies, film sessions, performances and guided tours.
vaga (wave) because it translates the idea of movement, agitation and intensity that Anda&Fala imagines for the city. It refers to the island and its geographical condition, and speaks of new times, other rhythms and forces that renew themselves.
